Ezekiel bread is generally prepared without adding flour as the main ingredient. This bread is also called sprouted grain bread, because a mix of grains, seeds, and beans are sprouted and used as the base of the recipe. You will find that the bread also has rye, barley, lentils, kidney and pinto beans, and other kinds of grains in it. The grains and beans are not cooked while they are added to the recipe. Due to this, it is absolutely essential to let them sprout completely, before using them to make the bread. Plus, sprouted grains can provide additional nutritional contents, as compared to using flour to make the bread. In this article, we have provided some healthy Ezekiel bread recipes that are really easy to make.
Simple Recipe
  • 4 cups white wheat
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup honey
  • ¼ cup kamut
  • ¼ cup spelt
  • ¼ cup pinto, pink and small white beans, mixed
  • ⅛ cup lentils
  • ⅛ cup millet
According to the amount of ingredientsused in this recipe, we will have about 2½ pounds loaves of bread. If you want, you can cut the ingredients in half to make 1 loaf of bread. To begin, take a bowl to mix all the ingredients properly. Make 3 equal parts, where all parts will be poured in individual jars. Fill those jars with water and let the ingredients soak itself for about 24 hours. Place a cheesecloth cover on all the jars and attach a elastic band to secure. After 24 hours, drain the water from each jar and rinse the grains properly with clean water. Again drain the water out completely. Let the beans stay in for another 24 hours with the cheesecloth placed as a cover. The beans will soon start to have tiny shoots coming out.
Once you see the shoots, this means the beans are ready to grind. Drain any excess water out of all the jars and place the beans in the blender. Grind the mixture to get a heavy dough, which will be ready to be made into the bread loaf. Preheat the oven at 350ºF. Add honey and salt in the dough and knead it for about 10 minutes. Spread the dough on greased pans and place in the oven to bake for about 45 to 50 minutes. Once the bread is ready, let it cool down a bit and then cut into equal slices.

Once you have made the bread, following the recipe mentioned above, you can eat it in different manners. In this recipe, what we have done is prepared a delicious mixture which can be used to layer the bread. First, you will take a bowl to mix the butter, margarine, 4 oz. cream cheese, salt, and black pepper together. Add the chervil and 2 tablespoons of chives as well. Mix everything completely and place them in 2 separate parts. Chop the onion and olives. In one bowl, combine the chopped onion, olives, tomato paste, 2 oz. cream cheese and paprika together.
In the second bowl, combine Swiss cheese, curry powder and saffron properly. Mash the avocado in a bowl and add lemon juice, white pepper, Tabasco, 2 tablespoons chives and 2 oz. cream cheese in it. Cut the 1 lb. bread into 4 equal slices and place them in front of you. Spread the tomato cheese mix on the bottom slice, place second slice of bread and spread the curry cheese mix on it, place third slice of bread and spread the avocado cheese mix on it and top the fourth slice of bread. Cut the bread diagonally and serve the bread.
