Liquid diet is one of the most popular weight loss diets today. Here are guidelines about the diet plan.
Actually the liquid diet is meant for people to be followed before or after a surgery to clear the gastrointestinal tract. However, today it is more commonly used for weight loss. In clear liquid diet, one should consume liquids that are clear without any solid contents like the clear soup; whereas, in case of full liquid diet, one can go for liquids that contain some semisolid like the orange juice with pulp.
Losing Weight with Liquid Diet
If you consume healthy liquids like soups, broths, and fruits juices, you can get all the essential nutrients without any excess calories. Secondly, you automatically cut down on refined carbohydrates, sugars, and fats. You also gain all the essential fibers through fruits and vegetables.

You can plan your own diet including any of these foods in your meal plan. You can go for a full liquid diet and include some healthy foods like lean fish or cut fruits and vegetables if you are hungry. It will form a healthy diet which will also control your intake of calories.
Best Liquid Diets
Fad liquid diets are meant only for temporary use, to achieve a quick weight loss. They are usually prescribed to be followed for 3-7 days and not more than that.
Master Cleanse
The Master Cleanse or the lemonade diet is a detox diet plan where one is supposed to consume only lemonade or lemon juice with maple syrup throughout the day. No other solid food or drink is to be taken. It is a fad diet that helps in detoxification as well as weight loss. It is to be followed for 7-10 days and is to be followed only after doctor’s consultation.
Clear Liquid Diet
This is also one of the fad diets to be followed for not more than 3 days. According to this diet plan, one should go for only clear liquids (those which are transparent, without traces of solid foods). Clear liquids like clear soups and broths, juices without pulp, protein shakes, gelatin desserts, lemon water and lemonade, plain water, honey, etc., are to be consumed throughout the day.
Lastly, one should note that it is essential to consult the doctor before going for any fad diets, specially if you suffer from a chronic disease, as there are several side effects associated with it. Good luck!
