Malted milk powder changed the lives of many and started ruling the American market from its first manufacturing. Made from milk, wheat flour and malted barley, it was introduced in the late ’80s. It started the trend of health drinks and families started trusting the company. Let’s explore some interesting facts about the taste that made people crazy.
With an idea of making a supplement for the infants with wheat and malted based nutrition, London Pharmacist James Horlick with his brother William Horlick founded a company in 1873 to manufacture their own brand. They registered a patent for a new formula enhanced with dried milk. They trademarked its name as malted milk in 1887. It was initially sold as an infant product, but because of its lightweight and high calorie content, it soon became popular among the adults too. Later, products like milk shakes, ice-creams, milk balls, etc. were also made from malted milk powder, and this added to the excitement of relishing the taste buds with something new and healthy.
